Year of the squash

My youngest daughter told me she thinks I'm one of the only people in the world who use acorn squash. I think she's just not looking. Several years ago we had the year of the squash. A friend gave us several dozen winter squash. I gave away a lot, and baked a lot more. I mashed it, drained it, froze it, froze the juice, added it to everything. Substituted for pumpkin in all the foods: bread, cookies, pancakes, pies, smoothies, soup. Lots of soup. This went on for an entire winter, and then we had the frozen squash periodically for years. One of my older daughters finally told me she just wanted a soup that was Not Orange.
