Soundtrack
I spent a lot of time playing Jedi: Survivor on my computer. I realized today that part of the reason I enjoy it is because it has clear objectives. In real life I have to set my own objectives, and if I want a cool soundtrack I have to choose it and set it up to listen, myself. It doesn’t just play when something cool happens. Which is good, because something cool happens fairly often, and a fanfare of trumpets would interrupt it. On the other hand, I often don’t notice something cool happening unless I’m paying attention to it. There’s only so many things I can pay attention to at one time. A defined soundtrack would encourage me and may focus my attention.
So: set definite goals. Then set up my soundtrack to be easy to listen to (automate as much as possible about it—without paying for Alexa). That means setting up a speaker and a source of music to be ready at all times. Which means clearing a space for them or hanging them on the walls, in locations easy to access. It needs to be within arms’ reach, or laser pointer, or sound activated. No wonder voice controls are currently in vogue. It’s like the clapper for lights, but better.
